While low back pain could be due to a variety of reasons, the primary pain producers are the disc, spinal muscles, nerve roots, and facet joints (the joints that are located on the back of the spinal column, which allow for protection of the spinal cord and allow the spine to flex and extend). While the pain is stimulated by many factors, the major reason for pain is often misalignment in the spine causing pressure on these tissues.
An interesting MRI study in 2013 demonstrated joint space increases following chiropractic adjustments to the low back! This helped to alleviate the pain of those in the study and allow them to perform daily activities with more ease. Chiropractic care is effective for those with low back pain. The next time a friend is suffering from low back pain, do her a favor and tell her about chiropractic care!
